Define A Place: Shot List
In our short film, we hope to convey the emotion of calamity and peacefulness within fast-paced life, using the context of New York City’s hectic environment. To express this feeling, we want to take advantage of Central Park’s setting near more urban life, such as the subways, buses, and buildings. We want to begin with still shots of busy life, something New York natives are familiar with and desensitized to. Then, transitioning to the park setting with similar still shots by the camera will stand out to the viewer as a contrasting tranquility and stillness, especially with elements such as plants and bodies of water. Our use of the natural landscape will allow the viewer to experience a sense of serenity after establishing our setting in one of the busiest and most motion-filled cities. Example shots of people and different forms of life will remind the viewer of this sense of “getting away” from the stress of the city.
